Introducing Katina Magazine! And important updates on S2O and outlining the Annual Reviews-SCELC offer.
Wednesday March 5, 2025 9:10am - 9:50am PST
In this session we'll introduce a new publication we launched at the Charleston Conference last fall, Katina! Katina Magazine (https://katinamagazine.org/) is a new publication written by librarians for librarians. The publication is named in honor of Katina Strauch, the founder of the Charleston Conference, and aims to continue many of the conversations held at the meeting. Building upon the product reviews originally published in the Charleston Advisor, Katina covers key topics, emerging trends, transformative technologies, library resources, and offers guidance on career and organizational development. By celebrating librarian contributions to open science, scholarship, and the enrichment of society, it provides a springboard for community discussion and engagement. Additionally, entering its 3rd year of implementation for all Annual Review's journals, we'll provide important updates on the Subscribe to Open (S2O) open access funding model. Come learn about the impact, progress, and evolution of the S2O funding model since we first piloted it back in 2020. Finally, we'll go over the details of our SCELC offer outlining the pricing and discounts available on all our available collections. We'll of course have plenty of time to answer any of your questions for all the above.

Voices of the Global South
Wednesday March 5, 2025 2:00pm - 2:40pm PST
We specialize in finding and preserving endangered materials—grey literature, primary sources, new media, voices from the Global South—and making them accessible. Research shows that three out of five people live in the Global South—in Africa, Latin America, South Asia, and Oceania. Yet the Global South is severely underrepresented in academic libraries. As librarians around the world work to decolonize their collections, Coherent Digital has created several resources to close the representation gap. Africa Commons, for example, indexes and delivers over 500,000 African items from thousands of sources. It’s mobile friendly and can be viewed in more than 130 languages. We partner with African organizations to digitize and add new content.
